I have an 03 and the plastic housing has gone to hell since i put the black film on. The heat has put thousands of cracks and turned them yellow.

I took it to a body shop and they were wanting 648 a housing unit. That seemed freaking NUTS. Are the housing for the HID's really that much more and do i have to get the housing for HID's why not regular lighting.

I dont know, ive seen some BRAND NEW sets on ebay for about $400. But i know how ebay is.....

which housing do i buy? does it matter? who has the best deals?

No, the headlights on an HID and non HID are different, theyre not interchangable.
