Stock seats without airbags are as follows:

Driver's: 36.55 lbs.
Passenger's: 36.15 lbs.

I put Sparco Roadsters (black with silver shells) (http://www.sparcousa.com/pseats_street.asp?id=97) in my car. The bare seats weigh 16.75 lbs each, and with the custom mounts that I made, they are 22.25 lbs.

THANKS!!! (for the weights) 36 lbs, cool, so I CAN save some weight. I had been eyeing the Sparco Fighter. Are you able to open the compartment behind the passenger seat all the way? What did you do for mounting rails? Did your seating height change any?

Thanks,

mark

P.S. Im not getting emails notifying me of new posts in my threads, is this feature working for others?

I made my own mounts for the seats. I would not recommend using the seat bases that Sparco has, as they are much too heavy. I lowered the seating position about an inch since I'm relatively tall and wanted to see something out the rear window besides the pavement 10 feet behind the car. And for a lower CG of course.

I can open the storage compartment, but not all the way. I can still access it, though. It is fine for me, since I don't carry a lot of crap in the car anyway.

The fighter's should save at least as much weight.

Your own mounts eh? Very good. Do they slide?

Are u using the stock belts? I would need a harness with the Fighter, but yours look like stock belts might work also. Does the lap belt lay across you OK? It looks like it might not be against my body, Im 5'7 28" waist, 130lbs.

Sparco is in the process of releasing mounts and sliders for the Z. I spoke to Adam at Z-1 Performance and he said he should have them in next week. Give him a call or email him for pricing an avaliabity.

I had a set of the Sparco mounts but didn't use them because the build quality isn't very good, and they are very heavy. Sparco doesn't make them in-house.

I made my mounts without sliders, as the Sparco sliders weigh an additional 5 lbs per seat. No one but me drives my car, so it's a non-issue for me.

I am using the stock belts, and since the recepticle bolts into the seat, I had to integrate that feature into my mounts. The belt is perfect. I am 6'-1", 185 lbs, 30" waist, and the Roadster fits perfect. It fits smaller drivers just as well. If yours is a street car, I wouldn't recommend a Fighter since it is going to be very hard to get in and out of. The Roadster is nice because it is a shell seat and has awesome lateral support, but is constructed with entry and egress in mind.

So the Sparco rails are heavy... Then add 5 lbs for the sliders. How does this weight compare to the stock pieces that I would be replacing? If its the same or less, I guess its OK.

You'd still be saving a bit of weight but not much, less than 5 lbs. a seat. I don't know exactly what the fighters weigh.

I wasnt clear in my last post.

Am i correct in assuming that the aprco rails and sliders replace stock parts?

If so, what do the stock rails/sliders weigh?

The seats are 36 lbs v/s 14 lbs for the Roadsters

The rails i install/replace are xxx (stock) v/s yyy (sparco w/ sliders)?

Thanks,

Mark

The 36.X lbs per seat is the complete weight.

The Sparco bases will bolt into the stock locations on the floor boards vacated by the stock seats, and then the Sparco seat and sliders bolt to that.

You are looking at 36 lbs vs. 15 lbs (seat) + ~11 lbs (base) + 5 lbs (sliders)
