Default blue LED conversion, '06

sorry to get your hopes up '06ers, but i'm still in the process. i searched this but to no avail. so far i've changed out both door panels, door cup holders, center cup holder, and mph/etc guage to blue. i still have to get new gauge faces to finish all the gauges. anyway, my question is about the A/C controls. as you '06 guys know, we have that little orange indicitor on each ****, so even if you were to shine blue thru it, it would be blue+orange. anyway, i was wondering if anybody has done the conversion on the '06 A/C ***** and been successful with the indicator things. i would post pics, but everything i've done so far has been covered by Acree; thanks again Acree for the help!

I am.

TreeZ is taking a step into the unknown and doing it himself. Major props. It's not easy.

i haven't had too much time to work on it, holiday season has me finishing up many projects at work. but i did go to a salvage yard in hopes of finding A/C controls from '05 and down 350s, maybe being able to use the clear insert to fit into the '06, not the whole **** though. i'm gonna try to hit another one or two yards this weekend, i really don't feel like paying for the whole A/C cluster if all i need is a little plastic piece, if i can use it in the first place. if that doesn't work, fabrication time.

The orange paint doesn't peel off if you scrape it? Guess it might be hard to keep from shaving the plastic at the same time.

Wow! You pulled that post out of nowhere! I still haven't been able to get around the orange indicator.

Without very custom intricate work, I don't think we'll ever see a true converted indicator. I'm pretty sure the red LED would come through the amber indicator OK, though.

I know! Maybe if I could get my hands on the mold that they use to create the amber indicator piece, but that's as likely as me winning the lottery
I didn't really see a point to changing the LED when the amber indicator is still there. That's one thing I love about the '03-'05 AC Controller, the piece is clear, so any color LED will come through

Very nicely done. Did you end up making your own mold and creating new pieces?
