I previously had a sol and I sent my targa to Cali to get c/f and once I got it back the roof leaked worst then before! If this worked it would look awsome, but I think the molding and being water tight is the bigger issue. Good luck.

I am anxiously awaiting the arrivaly of my nismo v2 bumper(yea, the replica one)...and want to combine all my downtime, and more importantly, PAINTING(so it all matches), into one body shop visit. With any luck...by spring, i'll be the first Targa Z on the roads...

did you send the whole car or just the targa panel? testing fitment and getting a good seal is the main factor here. As long as they take time to do it right, it should not leak...and if later down the road it does, it should just be a matter of replacing seals to fix it. Think of all the successful aftermarket sunroofs that get installed...if it's done by a reputable shop...they usually don't leak...

Yeah, I'm interested too. I'd like to do a targa, t-top, or just sunroof, but am waiting to see your results.

I've found the shop that I'm going to have do it...I'm waiting on the rest of my body kit pieces to finally arrive...and then I'm having everything installed/painted at once!

I can't wait...I'll try to get pics of the process!

I'm not too far from Indiana. If you can get this done for around 2k, I think I will have to definately get this done at the same shop.

I'm pretty sure that our trunk will not permit the roof to fit...it's just too small of a trunk. I'm going to have a collapsable roof piece made though, that i can stick in the car in case weather takes a turn for the worse. Won't look as good as the stock roof...but would save you in a tight spot

Well...the one shop said 2k...but the more i talked with that one...the less comfortable I became with the deal. I found another shop...who has done lots of work like this...and the guy took the time to show me his work...listen to what I had researched...tell me what he thought...and explain how he'd go about it. All in all, made me feel real comfortable that he knew what he was doing. He guessed that it would be about a 3k job...which for the comfort level i had with him....is worth it to me. He'll also be the one installing my body kit and painting the whole deal. I can hardly wait!

I'm interested to see the results. I think fit and finish, rattling, and leak-proofing will be the determining factor for me. I hope it works out though.

Someone with money needs to buy a wrecked Z with the roof intact so they can have someone experiment!

Somewhere down the road, if someone successfully pulls this off, I'd be willing to pay $3-4k to have this done. But I would think a roll cage would need to be installed to compensate.

Keep us posted. It looks interesting, as I had a Targa back in the military days. It did fold up and go into the trunk (front of the 911). Easy on and easy off. I'm definitely interested.
