Default Trunk lid struts do not hold when it is cold

Hi. I have an awkward issue with my car.
Trunk lid struts do not hold the trunk raised, when it is below freezing point outside.
Anyone has the same experience and what did you do about it?
Thanks...

Take your weight out of the trunk.

You are correct. I have had my head "bonked" more than once. I think I may get some stronger dampers as well.

Wow, seems like a widespred issue. The trunk bonked me in the head at least three times. I would not be surprised if someone gets seriously injured.
BTW, I see that most of the guys reporting here have 04 cars. Mine is also 04. Maybe Nissan has fixed this in the latter years?

These dampers wear out in all cars, ive replaced them in probably half of the cars ive owned. There are cheaper alternatives than the dealer. Most auto stores sell generic ones of various sizes and they are way cheaper.

Mine started acting up in 3 months... ?

Maybe we should just remove the rear windsheild wiper and motor to reduce the weight of the hatch... I've been thinking about that. Looks better too

Mine's still good but the trunk popper doesn't release all the way if you hit trunk release button on the remote. I gotta hit it twice before it gives it.

same here and ive removed the rear wiper, motor and hatch weight. It should pop open easily but it doesnt. The springs need more force!

It's the opposite with me, My trunk works too well, I actually have to work at it to push the trunk up, so when it is up, it really stays up unless I force it down. Even in cold weather. Maybe some of you guys have a after market spoiler?

Put 2 pennies on each side inside the bump stops. Works like a charm. My trunk used to stick but now it pops up every time perfectly.

My hatch fell on me last night too, only when it's cold though.
