hands down the best mod you can do for under $300 is a set of Hotchkis/Nismo/350Evo sway bars. Pick your poison on the manufacturer .. but in three years of modding this car every which way possible, the best mod for the money was the sway bars.

Good luck,
jim

Thanks everybody for your welcomes and suggestions. Right now, I'm probably leaning towards appearance upgrades mainly since I'm just learning how to drive a manual (although I think I have it down). Keep the suggestions coming, I'm getting great ideas that never crossed my mind before. Thanks again everybody.

+1 Good idea, depending on the mileage of car you might want to make sure everything is in proper working order before you spend that money. If you have more then 30,000 miles you want to make sure tranny/diff fluid are ok check the brakes to.

I'd say lowering springs, ie: Tanabe GF210; or what I got, SWIFT springs (if you're worried about too much negative camber). Looks, plus you'll get a stiffer ride.

I'm gonna bring this thread back from the dead to ask one question. I don't wanna start a new thread cause it's basically the same kind of questions. After reading zland's post (about modifications) I now have decided that my money will be spent on one of two choices. Either a Valentine One radar detector ($400), or a clear bra for a front bumper and a tint ($415 together). I love to drive very fast so usually I hit 60 or 70mph just going from light to light, so a radar detector would make me a lot less paranoid. But zland's post was really informative and I love the look of the tint, so what should I do?

Save the money and spend it on something else. Wait till you have more money to spend on mods that'll actually worth while.

It's really up to you -- a radar detector is not a 100% guarantee that you will not get a ticket. However, you will reap immediate benefits on the clear bra & tint -- protects your bumper from road debris & your interior from the sun. Plus the tint adds some look to your Z.
