Default splash guard (mud guard) install

Guys,

I am about to buy a set of splash guard (mug guard) off of a 2006 z. My z is 2005. Is the fitment the same?

Assumming the splash guards doesn't come with screws or metal clips, am I going to have a hard time installing it? I am very handy, but am not sure if it is worth it.

Anybody done the install on those on a z that never had splash guard.

Thanks,

Tony

If they don't come with hardware, you will need two clips per side and the screws to go with them. You will also need the two screws that go on the bottom (one per side). This is just for the rears. For the fronts, IIRC you will need three screws per side. I don't think there are any clips for the fronts, but it has been a while since I dealt with those.

The splash guard is easy to install with a stubby screwdriver. If you have problem getting the driver under the car, put the wheels on 2x4s. Nothing special about the screws.

The hardware is available from Nissan.

My only concern would be the paint color changes between 05 and 06. Black, for instance, has changed.

Bump, for those who purchase a used set without install hardware, the #10 screws can be found at any hardware store, I went to home depot and picked them up.

Only thing is, I found the 13mm too short for the fronts, so I used 19mm for all 4 screws.

As for the clips, any automotive parts store should have them, they're called spring clips or "speed nuts". The Home Depot rep told me to go to Canadian Tire here in Canada and ask for them as Home Depot nor lowes would carry these as far as he knew.

Ps. This may be obvious, but make sure to spend the extra few pennies and grab stainless steel hardware lol I almost walked with the first screws I found until he asked what I was using them for. He then grabbed me stainless steel ones to avoid them rusting.

Pps. One thing the instructions don't tell you...there is one more push screw under the front holding the liner in....I didn't know and just pulled on the side skirt and liner until I heard the push screw break. Luckily, if you do end up breaking it, you can use the extra one you remove elsewhere as it gets replaced by one of the 19mm screws you just purchased!
