Default Cusco rollcage install

Hey guys, Im about to buy the cusco 6 pt cage (dash escape) and i was wondering if you guys know how the install is. I know its a bolt in, but is there drilling and tapping involved? Also i wanted to know if the cage limits seat clearance at all. I have my brides almost all the way back so id be kinda screwed if i lost any room from getting the cage.

Any info would be great, Thanks!

I have the cusco 7point in my car. The install WILL mean drilling holes in the floor of the car, for the bolts as well as the rear fender arches. You will need to remove the seats, pull up the carpet and the foam under the carpets in the front. The hardest part will be removing, cutting, and re-installing the rear plastic pieces where the bars go to the rear fender arches.

You will be able to move the seats far back, i can move my recaro tomcats all the way back. Expect to take at least a full day if you take your time to install everything. You should install and connect all the interior bars together first, then mark, and drill the holes, and bolt it in once you're ok with the placement. It's a tedious install but nice outcome.

Also, if you plan on ever upgrading your headliner to a different material such as suede etc... do it FIRST before you put the cage in. I had to unbolt and remove half the cage to just get the headliner out of my car, after the fact.

Good luck!! and pics when done pls

i would suggest the 6-point autopower or kirk racing cage. i don't know what you're building the car for but the crushco is not scca approved. it's more of a show piece especially the dash escape since it will collapse right around the bend at the dash in an event of a rollover. but if you want to be jdm fresh and be in car show city then go for it.

If your going to do this get one of those bits shaped like a triangle with the measurments on it. It can be a PITA to change the bit after drilling one smaller.

Goodluck on the install

and post pics

Suede headliner after a cage was installed? Guessing you are not using the cage for what it was designed for?

The Cusco cage wasnt designed for anything besides looks anyway. I dont know of a single sanctioning body that would approve its construction.

If you want a real race cage, go to a cage builder or have Kirk Racing make you one. I have their roll bar and it is a serious piece.

Cusco looks cool though...
