Default Quick help on spoiler install

I jsut got my OEM style spoiler today in the mail.

Is there any problem if i attach it with twin stick tape and use foam pads under it to keep it from scratching straight surface to surface? Also what abotu adhesion? The spoiler seems light enough that some good tape will work, yet heavy enough to keep itself applied down at rest.

Also, what is the best type of twin stick tape to do this install? I know 3M makes some good automotive tape, that gummy stuff that is waterproof and comes on a lot of body kits and those rain shield things for over the windows (if you know what im asking you should know what im describing)

I just dont want to worry abotu the spoiler flying off while im driving to work one morning but i REALLY DONT want to drill holes in the hatch for install.

Those with experience please help me out, thanks.

Installed one on a friend's Z a week ago (mine came with it). I wouldn't recommend trying to install without drilling- you'll never get double stick tape to do that job correctly.
I wouldn't try padding more, either. The system is designed pretty well.
One piece of advice- when you get the template taped down, line up the two side bolts to the holes in the template by balancing it over the template. I discovered that the studs were actually slightly inside the two holes indicated by the template and drilled accordingly.
The metal is not very thick- you'll punch through it quickly!!!

Ok, I DO NOT want to drill thru the hatch to install this. I have had very good experiences with the 3M tape stuff over the years, but it has always come as part of the piece i installed. We have a bug deflector and rain guards on the windows of my fathers Tahoe and all the pieces are held on by this tape stuff. They are holding storng and show NO signs of losing adhesion. My sisters cavalier has had these rain guards also since 98 when we got the car new and they are still stuck on very well so im not worried of the spoiler flying off so much as finding the stuff.

I just need people with experince with this kind of tape to lead me the right direction to find and purchase some. I also used this 3M foam tape stuff to install eyebrows on my old civics headlights and if any part of the car wouldnt hold up against air pressure that would be the spot and they held on just fine.

Someone that can help please do so.

(BTW, I appreciate your advice but its not the direction i want to go with the install.)
