Default prepping fiberglass

wasn't there a thread that had 'basics to fiberglass'

I was interested to see what kind of work is needed to prepare fiberglass bodykits for paint.

thanks if anyone can find it or if there is an outside link.

you could try and clean it off first with a solvent like dx330 or something like. then scuff it up with a scotch brite pad. then you could go as far as putting high build primer on the glass, then sanding that down, then shoot it. if not just scuff, clean, prime, scuff, and then paint. dont scuff too much on the primer the marks might show through. that is how i always prepped aircraft glass pieces to be painted.

I am always an advocate of at least a very thin layer of bondo then sand to level. Gelcoat always has small imperfections liek pinholes. But if you want a quick adequate job... sand, tack cloth, primer, wetsand and paint.
