I need some help/guidance please. I had a bike fall on my hood and dent it in pretty good. I've called several body shops about getting a new hood painted. They also want to spray the fenders to blend it in. I don't like that idea.
I'm thinking I don't want the fenders sprayed - all I need is a new hood.
I have a Chrome Silver '03 Touring with 12k miles on it.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

To paint it correctly, the body shop is correct in the fact that they need to blend. Unpainted CF is one of those personal choices. I wouldn't do another CF hood myself unless it was from a top quality mfg (Top Secret, Varis, etc.) No Seibon, VIS or other JUNK.

 

Go to the marketplace here and see if anyone is selling theirs (a lot of people get CF and sell their stock). You might be able to find a good used one at a good price.

 

Spraying the fenders is standard procedure. I had some small acorn dents in my hood and a dent in my front bumper fixed. They painted the front bumper, hood and blended the paint into the fenders. Total was about $900.

The Autobody & supply Distrbutor has a meter to check any fade or paint issues ! I just got a new hood and front spoiler and am going to have them paint the hood,spoiler and front clip silver chrome ..

 

Just buy a hood off an 07'. I bet a bunch of people will be selling theirs shortly, and if it gets dented, it'll look like a normal hood haha....just joking, I thought I'd throw in my $.02. I'm sure someone is or will be selling a hood in the classified section that'll work out for you. Sorry about the dent, I know it must be a bad feeling. Good luck buddy.

dude there are like no people out there that will be willing to ship a hood...believe me i've tried it - you'll just need to get lucky and find one in your area - CF is going to be much easier to find

 

While it may be standard procedure to blend into the fenders, it is not neccessary if the guy puts in the effort to do it right and match the paint perfectly to begin with. I've had all my body kit pieces painted separately at different times and (chrome silver) and they all match the adjacent panels perfectly on my 3 yr old car. Some colors are harder to do this than others, but silver is pretty easy; just find a good shop.
