How about someone near by go by and take some picturs. Thats if its okay with the shop. I would really love to see how it looks with the top back on and the cuts from the inside.

Sorry ... I bought the roadster knowing it weighed more because the rigidity was reininforced and then some. You have yet to prove that you've reiniforced anything. It's easy to cut off the roof of any car but sorry ... you have a yellow air freshner hanging from the rear view mirror ... enough said.

Still, no pics of the top on. What about a hard-top convertible Z? That would be more realistic and much cheaper than the TT. Why hasn't anyone invested in building one of those?

Like dutch-boy said and I know from having people look at my car to do a targa who make Mustang Targa's the body needs to be reinforced. No offense to 813 but I'm pretty sure they said hell with it and chopped off the top. You notice that they don't really care for performance. No engine work, 4 18s in the back, have a yellow air freshner at a show and yet they claim to take the car sideways whenever they can. I highly doubt that. As for the gaskets alone costing $3,000, I also don't see that happening. You can use a stock roadster front gasket/weather stripping, and custom cut stripping in the back. The latches and all could be tricky but not $3,000 grand worth. If I were going to drop $7,500 on a targa top I would want all the gaskets/eather stripping done and proven, reinforcement underneath and inside(behind the seats), and a holder for the targa top, so that it isn't banging up my hatch area/just sitting in the back of the Z like I just bought some metal sheet from Home Depot.

you have to remember, he didn't come here offering this service. this is just what they did... so even if you did like the price, who the hell knows if they would even do it for you.
why does it even matter what their costs were? obviously the last deal was a bust, so who knows what it would have cost in reality, since in reality, it never happened.
This discussion has just about reached its useful end, because unless they are going to start offering this service, and if they start advertising here they will need to be come a vendor, then it is a useless conversation anyway.

What does it matter what I didi and didn't who are you to tell us how to do anything? I have pictures from start to finish of our build were things were cust and welded and put in correct specs for this application to work do you see the car folded in half? NOPE
Before you go off saying you have to do this and that and this try it do some work before you start trying to put down a person if you havn't done it don't throw your two cents into something.
LOL I guess all the work done to the car is no good since we have a tree airfrshener?

The 350Z roadster has additional structural reinforcements incorporated into the front engine/rear-wheel-drive platform to compensate for the lack of a roof. Reinforcements include a centre floor V-shaped crossbar, A-shaped front end crossbar, and a crossbar behind the rear seats.
Where's your description on how you've maintained the original rigidity of your targa Z to prevent cowl vibrations or body flexing under hard acceleration ?
Saying you did some "welding" and the car isn't "folded in half" is not really a good description.

haha...this cracks me up. 813...props to ya for doing the targa conversion. I'm trying to get one worked out myself. And thanks for sharing the pics. It would be nice to know if you did any reinforcing...but i think it's hilarious that people are attacking you for doing this conversion and sharing the photos...
