Essentially 4000k will look a little yellow 6000k will look white and 8000k will look blue.
Daylight is around 6k (+ or - a few).

That chart is not quite accurate, 8000K is very deep blue, anything past 10,000K is violet. I've had my share of different HID bulbs. {it was a phase I went through}.

BTW.. I messaged the guy on eBay thats false advertising his products telling him to send me a free set of HIDs and he said he can't help the pictures that his customers send in (why would a customer photoshop a pic of my Z to look like it had HIDs ) but could cut me a deal on a pair haha.

Alright since a HID isn't a black body radiator(like an incandescent nearly is) it is really more like this.

The manufacturer of the bulb should be able to provide a spectral power distribution plot that would look something like this. This is for a fluorescent bulb vs. an incandescent but you get the idea.

This is probably a bit more than you wanted to know, but there it is. If someone with more knowledge than I feels like chiming in go for it. My lighting knowledge comes from the aquarium world so it may be lacking in application to cars.
