The factory HID bulbs will be the brightest most useful lights you can get. The higher the K rating the less useful light output you get but the more deep blue and purple you get.

The nice purple bulbs you speak of are 12000K bulbs and their useable light output is practically non-existant. But they do look nice, its just not suggested to use them if you do alot of night driving. If you are wanting them though shoot me a PM and I can help you out.
Thanks,
Chuck

I just put in some 8000K bulbs in made by GE and they look EXACTLY the same as the OEM bulbs. I was hoping for a nice dark blue, what the hell happened ??

As far as brightness is concerned, factory kelvin {4300} is about the brightest there is, but you can change the color temp.

Im looking to change the color on mine aswell. Which one will give me that dark blue-ish color? I still want to have a good amount of visible light for midnight canyon runs, but want that blue look. Which ones and how much shipped?

6000K are blueish but 8000K are deep blue. 6000 will give better light.

6000k are very nice, they looked more white to me,but if you look right at the headlights from the outside they were more of a light blue, but as far as visibility goes,i was very happy with the 6000k's

I'm not an HID guru, but most people think hid's are brighter due to power or something, they actually run less wattage than halogens,35 watt hid compared to an average 55 watt halogen, and as far as though black housing headlights go,you can just open up your headlights and paint the insides black, all it costs is a couple bucks for black spraypaint, theres someone on this board that can do it for you if you ship it to him,not sure who though, but you can find him if you search for it
