Default JP Vizage questions..

Interested in the JP Vizage Typa A bodykit but im not a fan of fiberglass at ALL. Friend had a BuddyClub II Fiberglass kit and it cracked within months of regular driving...

I on the other hand had a urethane bodykit on my scion tc and i had no problems, even after smashing into a few curbs now and then

Any chance i could get this kit in a urethane style?

thanks for any input

Although true to a degree it is not correct either. Although fiberglass or even a slight hybrid mix of fiberglass is not as flexible as polyurthane there are differences. For instance, the PFRP that c-west uses does bend a bit in certain cases, just not as much as polyurethane of course.

The JP Type-A kit only comes in fiberglass because it is a FULL bumper style kit. Any legit company does not make full bumpers in any other material because polyurethane flexes too much which would have negative effects since it is larger when compared to say a lip kit. The flexibility hurts aerodynamics at higher speeds, the bumper will also be all over the place, without a ton of flex agents mixed in the paint the paint will start cracking...basically just a disaster with a full bumper in polyurethane. There is a reason why you see JP, C-west, Ings, etc making full bumper style kits in fiberglass and not polyurethane.

Think about it...everyone knows that people that are not familiar with the information above strictly prefer polyurethane whether it be a lip style kit or a full bumper kit not knowing the negatives. The body kit manufacturers know this as well and would love to cater to the consumer's preferences which would theoretically make them more money, but it is not reality. You see polyurethane lip kits being made by legit companies, but they choose to make full bumpers in fiberglass to avoid the issues that would arise.

Polyurethane is nice but is also a lot heavier material and I would only recommend it for a lip kit and not a FULL bumper style kit. The only exception would be a OEM bumper that is made with high pressurized polyurethane, but that is something else altogether.

For more information from JP themselves, here is their website:

I never heard of Vfiber. What does the V stand for Vag...nevermind. Hhaha.

Fiberglass definitely does crack when hit hard enough, but there are different levels in quality when it comes to fiberglass and JP is up there with the best of them. My personal preference is fiberglass since you can easily get it repaired or modified at a body shop whenever the time calls since it is easy to do glass work.

VFiber i saw at some sites where you can purchase bodykits
wasn't sure if it was a stronger more durable type of fiberglass or just a fancy name. Sorry for all the fuss, im from rhode island so there are alot of "bumps" and inclines which the urethane on my old car took a beating from..
