Question Quick question about installing eyelids..

ok, i know.. asking a question about installing eyelids has noob written all over it.. but...

i had a set of painted eyelids on my last car and i used some thick glue that came with them.. not sure of the brand since it was all in german..

I have a set i want to install on the Z and i'm wondering what others have done to attach them. I feel like 3m tape just isnt gonna cut it. i'm also thinking about the removal in the future... dont wanna use something that will permenatly f-up my headlight plastic.
maybe the glue used for emblems?
any suggestions?

Don't use glue. I used the 3m double sided tape. You don't want to use glue since you're probably going to want to take them off someday. 3m works fine, just make sure it's stuck all over and no one can rip it off. It takes a lot of effort to rip off anyway so you should be fine.

No it shouldn't. I took them off maybe 2-3 times and reinstalled them. If there is residue, soak it with some windex and scrape w/ your fingers and it should come off pretty easily.

I have had my eyelids for about 6 months with 0 problems. I used 3m tape around the boarders and its rock solid.

Here is portion of the spec sheet for one specific model of 3M tape. As you can see, with an appropriate amount of tape it should provide you with MORE than enough adhesion.

holy cripes... 50 lbs per inch (25/0.5) at room temp? yeah. i'd say that's more than strong enough. gonna take a decent amount of force to take it off too seems like. CLEAN your headlight and the bottom side of the eyelid before applying the tape. It will increase the adhesion.
