thinking about getting one in the near future. Is there any major differences? Like quality? I'm probably gonna buy the replica since its pretty much the same molding and less expensive. Does anyone have one installed?

 

well from the posts on the board, it seems to be a crap shoot, a few say there are imperfections in it, and it appears like it wont fit, but since there are people here with it, and it does work, it cant be all bad.

 

i think its the same...theres no reason you should spend couple hundreds more for the same thing...unless you just got money to waste.

 

anyone have pics of both taken at similar angles?...
i'd do it, but i can't find good pics of the replica,,,i found one pic of the replica on a Z, but it's too small to even see anything...

 

I ordered a replica nismo wing and all I can say is it looks horrible. The edges don't lay flat on the trunk and the basic fit is not right. The molding itself is ok/good but it would take alot....ALOT to make it fit right and I am not about to put something that looks cheap on this car. It's up to you but in my opinion if you are picky and want it perfecly fit on your car skip it. Cheers, Red.

 

I've discussed this matter with a reputable body shop in my area. I was told that replica kits are by laws not allowed to be perfect. They have to be off a little in order to avoid being sued. I'm not surprised that many of them don't fit and that ppl are having hard time finding a consciencious body shop willing to put it on for you. I for one will be going for the authentic kit. Nope, I don't have extra money to burn, but I think my Z deserves something better.

hey thanks for the pic comparison.. so the middle pic is the replica?? looks pretty much the same IMO.

EDIT: just read VQ's post on the replica kits.. looks really bad. I think i'll just go for the actual Nismo wing. THanks for the heads up ya'll. Saved me some headaches

 

I personally didn't have any problems with my replica spoiler, but from everything I've read, I sure wouldn't buy another one. I think I just happened to get really lucky with a good fitting one.
