Campbell Tint or something like that in HB. 220 or so gets the tint and a little 'insurance policy' if you get inspected and have to change it you can come back and they'll put CA-legal tint on. My buddy just got his mkV done there and it's damn good. http://www.campbelltint.com/automotive.htm
just do the tint. i live in fla and have 15% no problems let, and i got pulled over by a cop for speeding last week and he said nothing about the tint.. (30% i think is the legal limit) my friend has a z and had limo tint 0% and has never had a problem.. she has had that tint for like 3 years now....
I used to live up in LA. The only cops there who really will give you $hit about tint are CHP. Roll down the windows if you see one, and you're fine. Even still, it's not worth their time to pull you over JUST for tint. You'd have to be doing something else that catches their attention. (expired tags, speeding, bumping music, etc)
just do it man, only the as*hole cops will hassle you. i have 5% here in florida and i haven't been hassled once in 2 years.....ur choice though, but most cops will have better things to do.

Also, technically speaking, there is no medical permit that will allow you to get out of this, some people who have certian types of skin cancer have gotten medical notes, but these do not over-ride the law.
Also, if you are actually medically in danger, there are 0% tints that are clear that block UV rays, so you'd be more inclined to do this...
if you want to tint your car, do it, just beware, nothing you do will make it legal.
also, the reasoning behind this is because an officer approaching the car cannot see the person in, or their vision is hindered by tint. the law is set up for safety, since there have been so many incidents of officers being shot and not being able to see the suspect and or weapon.
So although it sucks from a modding point of view, there is a totally plausible and reasonable reason for this.
I got 16% on the sides and back even though anything on the sides is illegal in Michigan. This summer I think my friend with a Trailblazer SS and myself are going to get the windshields tinted. My tint shop recommends 35% on the windshield but I think that may be too dark at night???
Anyways..... get the windows tinted and if your worried about getting pulled over just be "that" guy (the guy who rolls his windows down when he sees cops)

I have lived in Ca all my life and have run tinted windows (all around) on all sorts of cars and have never had a tint-ticket. Just make the rear windows darker than the passenger windows. Just for your info, I have lived in SoCal, Bay Area and the Central Valley, cops are only getting the fools that go really dark on the passenger windows.
I've done like a couple of the other people have said- dark on the back three and light on the driver/ passenger windows. The difference between the wo shades makes it look less obvious you have tint. The only time I got pulled over for something different, the cop let me go on the tint because it was light.... still illegal, but he let me go.
Hey, I just got a fix it ticket for my tint. I have 20% on the front windows. But the only reason is cause I was screwing around in a parking lot and he heard me but didn't see it so was just trying to pin anything on me. I also got one for not having a front license plate installed. Other than that I've been pulled over before and never been hassled about it.

Most people who get tint are trying to 'hide' something and cops know this and are trained to spot it. Remember I said, most. the rest of us who just wanna 'look cool' are in the minority. 35% is legal here in the Show-Me state and I plan on getting it first thing when my 07 arrives. I wanna be cool like the rest of you guys.
