I wanna do 35% all around, but thats illegal too! California sucks w/ window tinting laws. Anyways, how can i get a medical permit to allow me to tint 35% all around? I know the cops will give me a 'fix it' ticket if i dont. But tinted 350z s look so clean! help me out

 

I got 35% tint on mine... and im in NY, which is illegal. Its not really that dark...ive passed by cops many times, even up close and they have looked at it and never said anything.

 

That sucks. Here in FL people tint like 15% on every window. Sometimes even the front windshield

 

Don't be a pansy and just do it, tint is illegal in all states pretty much but that doesn't stop people

 

ya 35% is the legal limit in NC....wish i lived in florida so i could go darker....the only thing is here when you have to get your car inspected...they check your tint. Below 35% =fail

There are ways around it, I'm sure; I've seen plenty of Cali car pics with tint. My Father lives in San Diego and has an NSX with 35% tint all around and has never had an issue (never been pulled over, though). I have 35% on my Z and am moving out there in a couple months; I have no intension of taking it off. As for inspections, I don't know what they do, but there are also plenty of guys that have mods that are illegal in Cali that seem to do just fine; I'm sure I'll figure it out as well. Just ask the right people/places.

 

Tint in California is not illegal. You can tint the windows behind the driver as much as you would like. The fronts cannot be tinted at all though.

I am personally running 20% all around and I have yet to be pulled over. Shops will do it for you still though, it's not a big deal.

 

Technically, any tint on the front windows is illegal. I have 20% all around and just try to roll "clean" when I see a cop. Also, if I have time--I roll the windows down! At night, it does look almost limo though... IMHO, 35% is too light, while 20% is a bit too dark. If I could find something like 28%, then I think that'd be perfect for my taste...But yeah, 5%-35% or 50%, it's all illegal. So even if you had a mouse-fart tint, if a cop wants you...

AFAIK, you can no longer get a medical excuse for tint in Cali. If you really need protection from the sun exposure for medical reasons, you will need to get the easliy removable tint/shade.

I have 20% all around and live in CA.
I never got pulled over even once because of it.
In fact, I got pulled over for speeding twice, and both times the cops didn't give a damn about my tint.

 

i think you should be safe. i'm running 20% and i live in cali. just be careful of big cities and be careful when goin to meets and group drives where cops may be more watchful

I have 20 on the front window and 5 on the sides and back, had a cop notice when he had me pulled over but said he didn't have the gauge so he let me slide, but said that i needed to get it checked. <---hahaha, yeah right.

 

well im gonna get 35% and see how my luck holds. gotta have tint, its worth the ticket. hopefully i dont get pulled over within a week tho. that would kill.

I just got a fix-it ticket for the front tint at 35%. The cop gave me a big lecture about how many cops have died just by pulling over people with tint.....give me a break F*cker.
