Ok, c'mon - a lot of us thought this was pretty cool in 1997:

What mods do you have on your car right now that you think after 5-10 years, people will think it was Rice?

I'll say:

the CF parts on my car (?)
my rims (?)
painted headlights (?)

What do you guys think?

I don't think anything will be out of style, not the way Shogun kits, DTM tips, racing stripes, stickers, and touring wings look like trash now. Gaudy kits will always suck, as will Daytons and things of that nature.

I would have creamed myself 10 years ago to that Accord....NOW, I think its one of the most ridiculous looking things around.

I personally think Carbon Fiber will be completely out by then...mainly because its not widely accepted as "cool" by the vast majority of people now...Just enthusiasts.

I think the dwindling few with large spoilers will be done as well.

Ill make an assumption that 10 years from now HID's will be out as well...LED technology FTW!!!

If he removed the wing and the dotted outlines on the rear windows then the car would actually look somewhat OK. I give him props for not altezzaing it up.

Some suspension parts also. Suspension is one of those things that are always revolutionized.

i think everything will b alot more subtle, as for me, i thought fast and furious was the coolest thing around when it came out. evrything constantly changes so its really an unknown. as 4 in the future, i think the cf issue will b alot less. maybe the lips will stay, but alot of it will b covered. as in painted cf hood, w/ only the vents, etc, original cf? then again, it may not be. if the new gtr, and evos come standard w/ cf (interior and exterior) then its getting more credit then we think, so who knows. i think underbody neons will forever b gone.

I agree. I think a wheel that is designed to look like it is still moving when it isn't is retarded, and I am waiting to hear about one of them flying off and ****ing something or someone up. Spinners ftl

I think you're right about exposed carbon fiber. I think wild paint jobs will go away too in favor of normal colors like white, black, navy blue, etc.

Not disrespecting lambo door guys, but that was never cool to me. Even the Gallardo has normal doors now.

I notice that Chromallusion paint has gone the way of the dodo too. I remember when lots of people had the single wiper. That was stupid too, especially if your wiper only swept part of your windshield. And clearouts are mostly gone too.

I say that in 5 year 1/2 of what is cool
in 10 years 9/10 of what is "cool"
That is a lnog time and there will be ALOT of changes in that time...

I am hoping brakes and suspension make a comback..thats what I am REALLY good at...

I think performance components will always be "in style". Things might get old and new parts will come out but as a whole (breathing mods, suspension, brakes, etc) will always be something people will want to put on their cars.

I was thinking more about looks - body kits, paint schemes, cf parts, rim color/style, interior trim, HID, lighting, etc.

I really like the staggered rim set up, I think that will stay for a long time. I think the "paint matching" rim set up will disappear. Here's an example:

I love CF but unfortunately, when you're 30-40 years old, you don't want to look raced out so I think that's a goner as well. Maybe only for weight savings - painted CF. I think the trend is going towards the "daily driven" application - flushed headunits, hidden subs/speakers, factory leather seats, etc. No more vinyl interior of course, no more painted center consoles, all that is going to go away. But that's just one person's opinion

Well personally since I am still 17 and have MANY years before I will be supposedly too old (which really never comes) to mess with cars and have them look different than the rest I think a lot of things that we put on the Z's will stay quite similar.
