Question Bad to remove antenna?

I havent turned on my radio in like 3 years... only listen to CD's.

I figured I might as well just unscrew the antenna and just leave it off, IMO car looks a tad better w/out the antenna sticking up.

Will it hurt anything if I just leave it off? Obviously they unscrew it to put it through the car wash... so I assume rain/dust wont hurt anything if it gets in there.

Anybody make just a cap for the terminal? I dont care about getting a 'short' antenna cuz I dont use the the FM/AM period.

i dont see there being an issue unless you eventually wanted to put it back in. i would somehow cap it so no water gets in though just to be safe. y not just but the s200 antenna its tiny enough

Yeah, what is up with the antenna? I see a lot of people have the shorter ones, but is it popular just to take the whole thing off, seal up the whole, and reroute the antenna to the inside of the car or somewhere it is hidden?

Why DO we not have a hidden antenna in the first place - is it a worse signal or something?

+1 - Anyone know of a cap?

I love my Z, but IMO antennas on new cars are kinda 80's.

It's just another thing Nissan cheaped out on.

You probably could go to Home Depot and search for a threaded cap.

our you could proally just take a bolt that has the same threads
paint it black to match and screw it in
might have to dremel some length off the bolt if its to long

or you could shave it off and make it look like it was never even there.

You can just make the stock one shorter.

Use an exacto knife and cut around the cap on the end so the black plastic comes off. And once you do that the cap will come off.

Then cut however much you want off and do the same to the plastic where you cut it down and slip the cap back on!

You get the same reception but a shorter antenna!

For people who shaved it off...did you run a hidden antenna inside the car or somewhere, or do you just go without public radio?

also, did you do it yourself or pay someone to do it? how long did it take and if you paid, how much did it cost?

thanks guys!
