for those with black cars, touching up with touch up paint is very easy and it blends in very well. If i never touched up my car i would have like 10 chips by now. All you have to do is blob the paint, then after a day, wipe it real quick with some alcohol on a towel wrapped around an eraser... and its gone... almost perfect, unless u shine a flashlight on it.

^ same for DB, with all the damage I've been accumulating, I've tried the touch-up too. It works very well. Also if you screw it up, you can remove it without any damage to the factory paint. The paint you get from Nissan is very good, but incomplete. You really need to pick up a chip repair kit at the same time from a parts store.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with swirl mark/spider webbing issues.

As far as the chipping goes...I put a clear bra on my car 1 week after purchasing it...and I STILL had to touch up a bunch of chips before the bra went on. Sad .

Yep the paint blows. Funny though is my '97 Nissan Hardbody has very durable paint. Has maybe 3 chips on the front of the hood and 2 of those chips were also dings. I had heard somewhere that a few years ago auto makers had to switch to a more environmentaly safe paint, which helps save the Ozone but sadly sucks ***.

Most newer cars have crappy paint. EPA changed what was allowed in the OEM paint formulas a few years back resulting in softer, crappier paint.

Check out this link http://www.guidetodetailing.com/

That has a guide to properly wash your car so you don't cause swirls. In short, good mitt, good soap, keep the mitt clean by rinsing or using a second rinse bucket.

But, YoungZ33, some of us had swirls from the dealerships "detailing" the car, and lots of people bought their car used, so it may not be their fault.

I have been washing and drying my car 3-4 times a week for the past year; have no swirls to speak of, sans some light, unavoidable marring.

I have my share of chips too, but Im glad at least its all on my bumper. Nissans touch up paint also sucks, at least for PPW. I tried putting some on, and it looked like freaking white out!! Horrible match!!

Nope...been using paint safe microfiber products on my cars for the past 10 years. I've never had issues with any of my other cars...this paint is just soft.

Even when doing everything properly with regard to washing and drying you will still end up with clear coat scratches. It is extremely unforgiving.

My Redline Z shows every minor "scratch" as well. The clearcoat on my rear bumber (actually the panel immediately below the rear hatch) looks all scratched up. I cannot think of anyway this could happen except in the car wash (but, I only wash in a "touchless" wash). I'm considering having this area "buffed out." But, I worry about buffing a cheap clearcoat; and even if that eliminates/reduces the scrapes, I suspect the scratches will come back quickly.
