Powder coating wouldn't stand the heat...would it?! Black chrome would also be a ***** to keep clean, especially down there!

Why spend the money to powder coat them? Buy the high temp flat black spray paint that they use for barbeque pits or engine compartments. Probably about $5 per can. Go to Autozone to buy them.

Try it and post up pics. I dont think many people would notice anyways unless you have Ings kit with the rear cut out.

Even if the heat doesn't kill it, powdercoating isn't very flexible so continual expansion in the metal when heated and contraction when cooled would probably cause it to flake off.

Go buy the high heat paint at Pep Boys or Advance Auto. Sand the muffler, prime it, then hit it up with some high gloss black and another clear coat if you want it really shiny-all the high heat stuff and it will last for a pretty good amount of time. Not really worth it though IMO.

It would actually look really good, especially for the cops because it'll look stock. I would leave the tips the same color they come in though.

He said nismo exhaust so I asumed he wanted to paint the nismo muffler part black. It actually isn't a bad idea. It'll sound great and have a very low key look to it. Look at the evo IX stock exhaust, it is a free flowing muffler yet it's painted black to appear very low key.

I was thinking of doing this to my exhaust as well. I think it would look sick! Another, and more expensive option is to do the black Jet-Hot coating.

P.S. - I, along with tons of other people have powdercoated brake calipers and those heat up MUCH more than that rear part of the exhaust would and lasted.

I think jet hot coating is a more flat color rather than gloss but it is another great idea.

true. Actually, mufflers shouldnt get too hot anyways. I know cats get around 500 degrees but mufflers should be much lower especially with test pipes.
