Thanks for the pointer... we will see what happens when the time comes for this.

I understand (and please feel free to chime in, experts) that while you use your stock system, you also have the protection of the passive systems. I am assuming that, if you are not buckled in, those systems may remain inactive.

I am sure that there are more technical reasons, but this one makes sense to me at least.

A 4 point will allow your body to slide underneath the harness. The stock system auto retracts to counteract this effect.

As far as an update, the fabricator is just way behind on my project since it's considered "small". He has more "important" things ahead of me. So all I can do it wait it out at this point.

If I were made of money, that would probably work.

We're talking in the 5 digits to make all the bars.

8/23 Update:

After having a long and drawn out conversation with the fabricator and owner of the shop, I have decided to take the project elsewhere who wants my business and will do the product right.

I will update once I have sealed the new deal. Sorry everyone.

I have a used Sparco harness bar for sale that no one has purchased that is well below what the bars we were going to make would cost. So it stands to be that if I can't sell this one used bar which is cheaper, selling many new ones just isn't going to happen.

Well, that's the reality of it. Our bar would have been of a different design, but on this forum price is everything. Sure there would have been a few willing to put up good money, but in the end it comes down to price.

That's too bad. I strongly believe that the 350Z community needs a better harness bar option besides SPARCO & BCR. I did not like their design, which is the main reason I waited patiently for an AVALON RACING bar to become available in the classifieds section. I lucked out and was able to obtain one of these rare harness bars. Have you considered looking at their design since they are no longer being manufactured?

I did not know the Avalon harness bar is OOP. I wasn't that fond of that particular design because if really limited seat back recline when installed.
cheers,

i was thinking of a design that attached to the strut bar and attached behind the headrest, like this.
