Default 1.5 hours to install a high-beam bulb?

I took my car into Birchwood Nissan the other day because the daytime running lights and the high beam bulb on the passenger side were out.

The DRL module was toast and replaced under warranty.

BUT... the high beam bulb was burnt out. The told me $50CDN for the bulb and 1.5 hours labour to put it in. Total is about $250CDN. For a frick'n light bulb! I would have done it myself, but they had already done it.

If it really does take that long, then I'll swallow the bitter pill and move on with life.

Anybody replace the bulb before? How long did it take you?

Umm, djmatrix and I did all of my front light bulbws hi lo, and the little parking ones in less than 30 minutes. And thats with mainly him doing the work.

LOL you got owned. Pay the $15 for the FSM and do little crap like that yourself. Never automatically consent to work either. You don't have a leg to stand on, just pay it and move on.

I never consented to replacement, just diagnosis. So... if it's only 30 minutes for the entire job, I'm going to be fighting this.

Lots of local forums to tell my story on that they sponsor. We'll see.

him a service manager here in ottawa hi cant do that to my customer !! hi replace one by myself take me 1/2 hr !!! wath going on overthere !!! they dont want keep her customer !!!!

change your own bulb and spend 250$ on a nice canadian hooker next time.

You can do a bulb in < 15 minutes if it's only one side and you know what you're doing. And that includes a cigarette break.

Wow... I'd hate to see what would get charged for a replacement of one of my bulbs... (bumper has to come off and headlight housing need to come out).

Your's isn't really hard to do. If they did it without your consent (which it sounds like all you did was take it in for warranty work) then you shouldn't have to pay.

What makes yours neccessitate that? Why can't you do it fro mthe wheel well like everyone else?

To the OP:
Do it yourself; it's very easy.
1. jack up the corner
2. remove wheel (you CAN do it without removing the wheel, but it's easier just to pull it)
3. remove two screws and three push clips and pull down the front fender well liner
4. remove bulb dust/water cover
5. replace bulb
6. put it back together.
