Motormouth has a good point, getting these plugs to seal is a bit tricky. I used a type of 3m rubber gasket around the outside of the plug, filled the inside of the plug with hot glue, then applied a little glue on the gaskit and glued the plug in from the Inside (several layers).

No leakage here

 

I just used silicone caulking and after two heavy rain storms, no leakage.

 

so fresh and so clean clean.

I had the bodyshop weld a plate underneath the hole and repaint the whole hatch. I'll take some pictures later.

 

^^The hot glue is not a must, but it added weight to the plug and made it easier to work with.

Yea, you are right OneI350 you weld a plate in, then some kind off bondo is needed to smooth it.
