Default Arrrggh! My underside keeps rubbing speed bumps!

My Z is still has stock suspension yet I still rub the underside when traveling over speed bumps. This drives me CRAZY! At this rate, I'll spring a leak of some vital fluid in about a month or so. I don't know how guys with lowered springs get through most areas with the bumps. Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm in the Northern Virginia area, BTW.

i was reading your post and i was thinking to myself that you had to be from the metro area, i used to live in rockville MD and the speed bumps/pot holes up there are just ridiculous.... so i feel your pain, i wouldnt say its 100% the cars fault, its mainly just a DC metro area thing

Every single time I enter my garage I need to go in at a serious angle or I'll scrape. I don't have problems with speed bumps tho'. Bumps in California must be smaller

Even when moving at a crawl ?

Neon purple underglow, TRD badge, TV screens in the headrests, I-VTEC, Toyo Tires and Sparco emblems everywhere, unpainted primered front bumper, 21" chrome spinner wheels, Ferrari fender stickers, imitation Bride embroidered seats, barbershop pattern Zignals, Mazdaspeed emblem, 90% tint all around, turbonator, extra cupholder

It was either that or I was going to mold the rear end into Skyline tail lights.

This is outrageous, this has to be the most insensitive post I've ever read on the Internets. You must PM to me an apology IMMEDIATELY (with a picture of you giving said apology on your knees) or I will release the wrath of the mods and Al Sharpton on you. Don't make them angry, you wouldn't like them when they're angry.

Besides me using actual common sense (because I can't take any constructive criticism whatsoever), does anyone else have any other suggestions?

I have no suggestions for you, but I also live in the DC Metro area. For me I just avoid speed bumps. Granted I have only had a problem maybe once or twice scraping with a speed bump.

I have the same issue, it seems to be just in apartment complexes. I just try to take it really slow and not let the suspension compress and take it at an angle.

Smile That's crazy!

I don't know what to tell you. You guys must have some KILLER speed bumps where you live. My Z is lowered and I have never bottomed out alone or with passenger (I'm 225lbs, btw) going over speed bumps.

Are you sure you're going over speed bumps and not parking lot islands?!

I keep my hands on the steering wheel and force myself not to rub my underside. Anti biotics may help with the fluid leak.

i hate the ones that form to a point in the middle.

funny story.... when i had my 98 civic, i went over a speed bump with 3 other peeps in the car (i had like a 3 1/2" drop on it also) my car got stuck for like 15 seconds, i was teeter-toddering on it til we all leaned forward and i finally got off.

good times.

Damn, just moved into Northern VA and picked up my Z also. I was wondering about scraping when I'd pick up a body kit.
