+1 on the question...I'd like to know too for sure, but I have an idea.
The front hood on my Audi could be adjusted - looks like the same thing. If it's anything like the , there are two "stoppers", one on each side, covered in rubber sheathing-you can't really miss them. At least on the Audi you can remove the rubber cover and adjust the length of the actual part beneath.
Look at it an let us know-it's probably there, if anywhere, where you'll be able to make an adjustment.

Nope, those are just rubber stoppers. Not for adjusting. You push them down. I dont think the back can be adjusted.

I work for BMW, Porsche, Merc and Audi, And as its been said in here already.. you cant compare these cars in any mannor to the Z, but what im seeing isnt a lack of quality of the Nissan, its more like... WHOLY CRAP.. whats wrong with that picture.. thats not normal at all. im sure if i looked hard enough and was **** enough i might find some "issues" on my car (35th ann 350z) but not nearly as bad as that. id for sure see the dealer. fit an finish may not be as top notch as the high line cars we have here but your still entitiled to have a car pieced together in a proper mannor. if it wasnt new id say itd been tapped in the rear.. my two cents anywho.

I thought you said you tend to pay attention to detail before? Anyway, no I don't have that either. That's deff. a factory mistake that your dealer should correct. I'd want a new hatch if I was you.

I feel the same way, I am not looking for perfection but that is unacceptable.

Does water go through the gap? If it does, then thats very bad for the car. Have the dealer fix it.

"Sorry, one of the techs locked the keys in the car and we had to use a crobar to pop the hatch. Standard Nissan protocol."

I can't wait to hear what the dealer does. What they do could influence their business in that city if anyone does a search on them here.

Ok everyone I am back from the dealer. To my surprise this is how they handled it. I pulled up to the service station and let them know about the issue. He looks at it and says take it over to the body shop(same Bldg) no biggie. I pull into the body shop, the guy comes out and asks if I car for a couple of minutes. After I a few minutes this is what they show me. And the best thing. They threw in some brand new Black "Z" floor mats. I am very pleased to say the least. He says it was a simple adjusting of a couple of bolts. They tightened them up wrong during assembly. Much the same way a wheel would be off if you tighten the nuts wrong. I am satisfied !!!!

They have def. solidified my trust in them. I definately feel comfy bringing my car back there for oil changes ect... until they prove me wrong, they have won my trust. Not bad for a new car dealer. I was in and out within 30 min. That was with me BSing with the new car manager about golf and what not.
They really did take care of me.

Glad to hear it worked out... grats on the free mats. Find another problem so they can throw in some more accessories.

yeah, I was really cordial and nice. I first told them that maybe I am being a little ****, but heres my problem. They said no way on the **** part. If he had just bought a 30K car he would be the same way with it. Very nice guys and well handled. And the parts receptionist is Fn hot hot hot !!!!!!!
