Fit and Finish ...

Fit and Finish ...
After having the Z for a few weeks now, I am noticing that the fit and finish of the vehicle is not in the upper tier of vehicles like a Lexus, BMW ect... For example I just noticed a slight difference in the gap on the hatch area. And certain areas of the car ie.. gaps are symmetrical with the other side. I am being pretty ****. Most people dont notice the slight variations but being a previous owner of Lexus' I tend to pay attention to detail, ie.. fit and finish of cars. Here is a pic of the example I am talking about. See if you can see the difference after I have pointed it out. Its pretty noticable.
I asked the wife to tell me if she saw anything on the back of the car that was off a little. She said no, then I pointed out what I have found and she said yes I see what your talking about.
Has anyone else come across similar things on their Zs ?
Thanks

In person, its almost like the bend in the hatch isnt bent all the way like the other side. Like the bend wasnt a perfect bend from the factory. I think its something they should have caught in the quality control dept. Like I said I didnt even notice it while doing a walk thru of the vehicle. I just noticed it today while sitting in a chair at eye level. I know its not something I did to the car either. This pic was taken the very next day after I brough the car home.

Yeah the more I look at it the more its starting to **** me off. 30K for the car and this... I guess its partly my fault for not noticing it at delivery. Even if I didm what would they have done ? Any people familiar with how body work is done. I wonder if I would have to get a whole new hatch. If that one is just cut wrong or something. I have not a clue.

Is the problem in the hatch cover or the bumber cover? I am confident that a good body shop will be able to align the two to close the gap. This should be a warranty repair, but if you have a body shop you trust you may just think about paying for it.If you have a great dealer, they may let you take it to your favorite shop and cover the cost. This is very unusual for a car actually built in Japan.Possibly the car was damaged in transport to the dealer?

yeah no kidding. I obviously wouldnt have cared if the care were used or I never noticed it. But seeing that the car has about 30 miles on it when i bought it. 10 of those were my test drive, I am ticked off now. DAMN

look before you buy?
haha not your fault. I would probably try pushing down hard on that side of the trunk to see if anything "clicks". Doubtful though. After that, dealer/convince myself it really isn't there, it's all in my head =D
