it was a joke. Basically i ripped my **** to pieces in teh first pic. The second pic, the metal piece is the main piece why people have such a hard time taking the stock **** off. It had a lot of loctite on the thread.

holy ****! I have tried to take off my shift **** as well, and apparently the 2003's have the hardest time doing this. I'm glad I quit before you did, lol. But seriously, I understand your frustration. I've had a shift **** sitting around for almost 2 years that I haven't been able to put on because of the stupid loctite.

Tell me about it.

I did it first like the manual said, **** started crackin and breaking, i went to home depot, got that grip thing everyone else was using, and the rest of the broke. I had to cut through the ****, take off that yellow rubber, get to that metal peiece and broke the loctite seal. And trust me, it took A LOT OF FORCE. I'm glad i will never go through this again. And teh stock **** is the only **** in the world i like for my z and know i have to rebuy something i already had that was in great shape.

thats what my **** looked like when done.

first the leather ripped, then the plastic cracked and finally i took the white rubber off and put a wrench on the metal ball. It was a pita! I was going to post it in the for sale section for cheap but fear the banhammer.

I had the same issue when I replaced mine. I was like" Uh..ohhh..." I thought I twisted the shifter shaft duudahhh or broke something in the assembly. After a couple of turns it came off.

yes those are both tools i used. And you are not even suppose to use teh vice according to the service manual but i did because another member told me. I think it was the loctite because looking at other posts on this site, they only have a short line of loctite but mine is around the whole tapered bolt. Makes me think if someone else before me messed with it.

You must be lucky b/c MANY members with 03s couldn't get it off without giving up or ripping their **** to shreds.

yeah it sure is. I'm looking for a used but perfect condition because i really don't want to pay retail. IN the pics, you see my dirt in the crevices of the ****, its because i threw it in dirt and stepped all over it since i was mad.

Maybe i should just get a nismo Ti **** or something. I actually used my beater car and got a apc(please don't flame) for the time being so i can drive my z until i find a replacement ****.
