i have been debating on getting a V2 or V3 hood, and from all the people i've asked, they said that Veilside products are flat out horrible. Most have told me that they are unacceptably thin, that they require large amounts of prep work, and nearly everyone has warned me not to buy veilside products because of poor fitment. in my opinion, although i like the look of the authentic veilside product, their track record with others is going to make me buy a seibon, or choose a completely different hood.

Put foil over your hood as well. But seriously, yes heat on top will be an issue.. but at least you can prevent or minimize the massive heat coming from your engine bay.

You are on point. You captured everything that I experienced, but the fitment was actually pretty good. Another local guy has the same hood (Phunk/aka CJ Motor-sports, and his fitment seems good too). MY advice is to get the Seibon knockoffs. If you like the Veilside V2, seibon only makes the V3 replica, which your bodyshop can modify by removing the center vent.

mostly, i liked that the veilside has spines down the hood, rather than the grooves. I can't find a quality hood that has the v2-v3 style with these spines, replica or authentic.

With most of the companies I work with, even if it has been signed by the customer, we can still file a claim within a reasonable amount of time. We do not have many damaged shipments, but when they do happen, we generally get taken care of.

Really depends on the shipper. Good luck with FedEx, they never accept responsibility for their ignorance.

Well just got the bonnet back from the shippers. They're going to look into the whole matter. I told them the bonnet cost me $3,000, (because its said the carbon fibre is first soaked in the breast milk of 33 japanese virgins). lol

So if it does work out, I'll at least get compensation for the grief they've caused.

Anyway, here are the pics finally...

Now,... I have a problem.

This hood was secretly bought by one of my freinds who wanted me to have this hood instead of the Asuka Design. Problem is I had already ordered the Asuka Design hood, so that is supposed to get here on Friday (probably not, with the way things work down here).

Now, because I got hasty, when I saw the hood all smashed, I decided i couldn't wait any longer for a hood, so I ordered a stock hood fro the dealer. That I just got! LOL.

This Veilside hood can be puttied and fixed, and then sprayed body colour (what a shame).

I don't want to have to pay to spray 3 bonnets at one time, when I can only wear one.

Should I start with the stock bonnet, then go to one of the aftermarket bonnets after a couple months? OR should I spray one of the aftermarket bonnets, and leave the stock bonnet as a spare in case of anything in the future?

I can always keep the more aggressive asuka one for xmas when I want to boost the car and throw on an aggressive front bumper for the intercooler

Man, thats ****ty.
I'm still trying to figure out your situation with the hood.

Did you buy it from VeilSide Japan?

Looks like they layed the box flat and probably crushed it. Stupid.

They come on a boat from VeilSide Japan, so, no.
We don't produce anything in USA.

Well, I didn't bring it, or buy it - so I don't know the details. I figure my freind got it from Veilside USA, cause he's bought stuff there before.

As for refusing it. Because he brings in a lot of stuff in containers every week. So, he clears the containers at his workplace with customs. The shippers weren't there on hand, so he just left it in the box at his workplace and told them to come see it. He is big business for them, and I'm sure they don't think he broke it so he could claim for it on purpose. So, he todl me today that they're finished with it. He was going to throw it away, but I said I'll take it and have a body man look at it and see if it can be repaired.

I know it can be. It just needs some putty and some rubbing and it'll be fine once painted. It's the loss of the cf 'look' that hurts the most. I'm going to see if anyone of the few people here with Z's might waant it. They are all older people, so they might either love it (for being body colour and not cf), or hate it, because it's just not their style.

Anyway, I figure I can get a few hundred bucks for it and give the money to my freind for good measure. I doubt he'll see any money from the shippers for now.

Hmmmmm, I'm trying to track this hood to see if it came from us.
However, this is proving to be difficult.

I'll ask my freind how and who he got it from. See if there is a way of tracking it. He usually has his buddies over at a big performance store in Cali source things if they dont sell it, so he probably didn't buy it directly. He's bought Veilside stuff before for another Z around 2 years ago. His name is curtis watson, you can check out any database you may have.

I will say this. The hood was completely bent in the container apparently. The guy who took it out said it was jackknifed. When I got it, it was completely inverted. I stood it up, with the inside facing me, and pushed my knee into it until it popped back.

So, for the damage done the bonnet pretty much held its own!! It's completely fixable, without too much work. I'm going to leave it for now, but when I do fix it i'll post pics.
