Trying to make OEM Calipers look like BBK's= FTL. If anything, powdercoat them black.

I thought the car looked much better after it was done.

With the new wheels it doesn't stand out as much now either. So, it's more subtle now.

However, I was going for the below look.

To some this might look tacky too I guess:

Please DON'T tell me you're comparing your yellow painted SINGLE piston calipers and tiny rotors with the Porsche Carrera GT's 6 piston front / 6 piston rear big brakes....

Yeah this is the tackiest **** I have ever seen. Let me go throw up...brb.

Usually I'm nice about these things but when you compare my dream car with your poorly painted yellow calipers I can't stop myself from letting you know to stop ricing out your poor Z

I like silver better than black, I think stock painted black look like anti-calipers making it look like you have no brakes at all.

I just used high temp paint on my stock calipers and painted them black. I was tired of that corroded metal look so I Dremeled the surface down to get the corrosion off and then taped off everything and painted them. I went with black because why would you want to bring everyone's attention to the fact that you have stock calipers?

a sticky or some other type of link on the home page? You summed it up perfectly. Can you post pics of your black calipers? Sounds like it turned out well.

I can't stay though. I am going to wrap my stock calipers in purple velvet.

painted mine cherry red used VHT high temp and VHT clear, takes 2 or 3 days to do em right, you know let the cherry red dry before clearing them. Fact is you still brake dust on em, even using Hawk brake pads so spend some time on the tires, whells and use a good brush and dawn to get the calipers clean

since the 06' brakes are only a teeenie tiny bit worse than the brembo's, I have left the BBK mod towards the end of my list since I dont track the car. HOWEVER, the stock bare metal brakes, were something I couldnt live with. This paint job was done in 5 min, with regular non-hi temp paint, just regular krylon brand, and no problems what so ever have occured. luckily, a Brembo kit, is next on my list because I actually am not a fan of the painted OEM brakes because it reminds of the POS jobs civics do.

pics with a few dif wheels on my car:

All I can say is ignore the people who tell you what color to paint it or that certain colors are only for... yadda yadda yadda... I had mine done in red and it throws a bit of color behind the wheels. Looks great to me (the only one I'm trying to please), it's exactly what I wanted (had no desire nor need to spend money on a BBK setup) and I've only have gotten compliments on them (many compliments from body shops, the dealer, people in town).

While I'm not sure about that yellow (might look better in person?), if the owner likes it, so be it.

+1 on the do it beacuse you like it comment. The only thing that I would add is that you need to take the calipers off to paint them to ensure that the entire caliper is painted. Like the saying goes, "The devil is in the details." and the yellow caliper paint job is poorly executed. The paint does not cover the entire caliper. This can really make or "brake" the the job and make it look bad.

I should add that I actually had them powdercoated, not painted, though I'm not sure most people would know the difference, or that you could tell either way once the wheel was in front of it. I also applied the stickers sold by someone here (Nissan on one set, 350z on the other set).

It simply adds a bit of color behind the wheel and dresses up the stock calipers a bit.

It's not about "bring attention" to the stock calipers. Bottom line... I have pictures of the wheels with the stock drab grey (whatever color) and pictures of the stock calipers in red. It looks *better* in red. There's no way anyone would say differently. Not one person. I'd put money on it, with two cars side-by-side, with identical wheel setups, etc. It just wouldn't happen.

I had a shop rip off the cloth seat and replaced it with a two-tone custom orange and suede leather. Does it look like anything else than it is? Like Bride seats? Like <insert fancy shmancy seats>? No. Does it look better? I think so, and I did it for me, so there you go. I'm satisified. Actually, that's an understatement. When I got the car back, I was ecstatic. It totally transformed the interior.

The red calipers aren't a BBK setup, and if you want or need that, then just get it. If you don't want or need a BBK and just want to throw some color behind the wheel, then do it. I assure you it will look better (than stock drab grey), and you will like it. As with the seats, I was extremely pleased at how much it complimented the $3K+ wheels.

As I said, I'm not sure about the yellow. Be it a bad picture or ?, yellow is a bright color. Mine are dark red. They don't stand out that much. I would say that you'd have no problem going with deep, dark colors (red, dark green, dark purple even, etc.). I don't think it would look as good in white or other bright colors.

lol. dude, your welcome to do what you want with your car. Im just making the point that when you paint your stock cailpers you look jsut as bad as the dude who painted his 91 civic calipers. Its not a flattering look in my opinion. dont get me wrong, if i had the chance i would paint them black or silver because the stock surface looks like dogchit.
