Default Painting calipers

Hey, has anyone painted their own calipers? How did it turn out? What kind of caliper paint did you use?

if your going to do it, use silver or black paint. any other color will make that ugly caliper look worse.

Im thinking about doing my calipers in black. Theyre not brembos. I have a silver Z, and am going to tint it in a few weeks. Wondering how it will look. If anyone cares to photoshop a sideshot with black calipers and tint be my guest =)

I painted mine with High Temp Yellow. I removed the the wheels and just used a 1/2" brush to paint the calipers. It took two coats but, came out pretty good imo. The brake dust does start to show on them in about a month if I do not wash the car. However, I generally wash my car while it is cool twice a week. I do clean the wheels and calipers when I do. I make sure the brakes are cool too so I won't warp the rotors by putting cool water on hot rotors.

With newer wheels:

^^^ i'm sorry but that looks tacky. I think the stock silver looks great with silverstone already.

To each his own. I love it !!! It's OK if you don't like it.

I thought the car looked much better after it was done.

With the new wheels it doesn't stand out as much now either. So, it's more subtle now.

However, I was going for the below look.

To some this might look tacky too I guess:

yeah, i wasn't trying to be offensive. That was just my opinion. The difference that you are going for and the pic you just posted is that the porsche has real 1 piece multi piston calipers though.

I bet if added a couple of more things and $400K I could get it to look exactly like that.

Yeah, I think the bright yellow was a bit too bright, the color on the porsche has more of a gold tone to it.

Z driver's problem w/ the yellow calipers is that there not just yellow, there NEON yellow, almost green.. the porche is just "mustard yellow".

I have a silver Z & painted mine black, thinking I might decide to paint them silver but I'm not sure... black doesnt stand out but it looks clean

p.s. You need to take that tittie bra off. Your hiding 20% of your car

Sorry, not feeling those....I'm a fan of the good ol' stock silvers (unless you paint them black). Only BBK should ever be painted aggressive/bright colors.

I agree. You paint something yellow when you want it to stand out. I don't know why someone would want their stock calipers to beg for attention.

The appearance of my stock calipers and rotors has been bothering me lately but since I don't have the cash for a BBK I was thinking about painting the calipers black to make them stand out less, not more.

Unless you have a BBK, don't paint the caliper. Stock calipers painted just look tacky IMO.
