Default Who has ditched their spare tire and the tools?

My vehicle is a daily driver, I have never had flat in any of my cars (knock on wood). My auto insurance covers flat bed tows. So, for performance purposes I am considering drivering with out the spare tire and parts and reduce the weight of my vehicle by 40-50 pounds. I have other weight reduction parts in the Z now and why not contribute to the weight loss by ditching the spare tire and tools. So, who is running without their spare, any stories or advise?

PS My buddy claims that fix a flat can spray works fine. Has any one used this stuff before?

I wouldn't use fix a flat because of the TPMS.

If you get any snow or ice during the winter, you'll wish you had that extra weight on the back wheels...

Don't use Fix-A-Flat on your wheels. The mechanic will be pissed when he has to clean that **** off to install your new tire. Also it will probably mess with the TPMS.

I just bought my 07 a month ago and I'm going to clear out the spare and jack when I get a chance. I wonder if the OEM jack can even get under the car to lift it if you get a flat?

I tried lifting the back of the car with the jack and didnt even get the tires off the ground. At least thats what I remember. They might have been just slightly off, which is enough to change a tire. But with most insurance now, you dont really need it. Just a precaution. I took mine out.

I take it out when I go to the track. No need to remove forever.

That's what my 4X4 Jeep Wrangler and my AWD Escalade are for. The Z will stay safely tucked away in my heated garage.

It actually lays fairly flat. I had to use mine the other day to flaten out a heatshields on the cats.

When testing out my cats the other day, I had everything cleared out and let me tell you. The hatch area becames extremely noisey

I might just have to take them out too. I'm running 19's anyways... I dont think it's safe to have 3 19 inch rims and 1 15 incher (or whatever the spare is). Hahah

I ditched my spare when my system went in... It was re-done with a new floor with a little storage compartment. Also, a spare won't fit over a BBK, so it would have been useless to have one anyway. I say ditch it, especially if your insurance covers the cost of a flatbed.
