Default Paint Estimate- Front bumper

For those of you that don't know I hit some major debris on the freeway the other day- Left some serious cosmetic damage to the lower portion of my front bumper (deep scratches and a few dents). Luckily no mechanical damage to rims, suspension or engine or anything else.
So my plan was to buy a new bumper- OEM costs $230 unpainted. I've been given an estimate of $650 to paint the front bumper
Does this seem a bit high? I added an aftermarket bumper to my last car and it cost under $300 for a quality paint job.
Those of you who have had new front ends painted (OEM or aftermarket)- what were you charged???

On a side note- If any Chrome Silver owners have installed an aftermarket front bumper (nose piece) let me know if you are willing to sell me your stock bumper.

Whoa, that sucks. I had the same situation last week on 680 S. There was a bunch of broken 2 x 4 wood and scraps on the road. Some were getting thrown up by cars. Had to do some quick maneuvering.

hm...that seems a bit high! does that include blending with the quarter panels and the hood or just the bumper itself?

i got one of my previous cars painted at a body shop in sunnyvale...they cut me a sweet deal cuz i was a student. got my front driver-side door repainted and blended with the quarter panel (and dent removed) for ~450 bux. they seemed to use really good quality paint and they did a real good job of fixing/painting it.

on a completely diff note, failsaf3, is the paint on your front/rear bumpers different from your body? i also have CS, and the bumpers seem to have a slightly more bluish tint to them compared to the rest of the exterior...maybe i'm just over-sensitive.

Wooge- Well considering my car is only 6 weeks old there really isn't a need to color match it to the rest of the body- they just need to paint the complete bumper by itself. No installation no bodywork etc.
What shop did you use in Sunnyvale? I'm just north of Sunnyvale on El Camino Real.

shouldnt be more than 300-400 for a good job, I paid 250 I think for the rear bumper... less intricate of a shape I guess. but still...

When I had my Kaminari kit installed, I paid $300 for the front and rear bumpers, and the gas cap, to be painted. $300 TOTAL!

my car just went to the shop. they are fixing the bumper and the passenger side fender. they charged me 680 to paint the new bumper, fender piece, and the nismo wing together plus installation. i brought the oem bumper for 220 and fender for 260. so 650 to paint the bumper alone is too expensive.
shop around at different shop, a friend of mine got his nismo kit done at a local shop, they charged him 100 for every piece of the kit.so it was like 500 bucks too paint the whole kit.

Default Hey Jason,

Pasha's (Paul) (the one with the brickyard and Nismo style spoiler) dad has a shop! Ask him for his dad's shop's address and get a quote! Sorry to hear that!

I think it's a good time to get a body kit or an after market nose. Is insurance paying? That could be your other route.....to claim insurance!

Talk to some painters here and there, or shop around, that is too high.

I would say $250 is more appropriate.

man, hope you find a better price. Well, you could always do the CF Nismo lookalike kit and skip the whole painting....

I had someone back into my CS front bumper. Got estimates from $450 to repair and paint to replace for $625. One place said over $1500 but they would have had to rapaint the hood and fenders so that everything would match. Sincw when does a ureathane bumper ever match metal when painted??
This is in Phoenix and I went to a dealer and 3 other shops. Finally bought my own bumper and having a shop paint it. Cost was $500.

Default Front Bumper

A front bumper to prep paint and install should cost aroud 250-300 at the most with installation. Ive had many aftermarket painted on my last car and never paid more then that.

I had my rear passenger side fender painted and had a major dent removed. Something hit the fender while driving. Total cost was $380.
