i have a all black 03 z interior except the part with the shift **** and cubby and gauge cluster they are the dark gray color. i want to convert it to black, should i sand and paint or is there a chance i can get a factory set in black ?

no. just use a carbon fiber interior kit. It will be black AND carbon fiber.

 

I really can't muster up a reply on this one other than to post some pictures of your center console to show us what you're talking about.

I can't tell from your post what the difference is between your "Dark Grey Color" and "Black". My car has the "black" interior and it's all pretty uniform other than the texture, which is different between the dash/front console and the center console.

Then you say it's all black except for certain things that *should* be trimmed in aluminum.

i thought there was either black or frost....i have the dark interior and the console is the same as the rest of the interior...please show some pics.

all of the stock interiors come with that "dark grey" color, it is supposed to be black but it looks somewhat faded. you have 2 options:

1. sand it down and paint it black....
2. get evo-r's carbon fiber kit...


the second option will run you a bit more money but it is worth it.....good luck bro.

the 03 model center console is not black at all. It wasnt untill the 04 models did they start making the center console black. I know because I have an 03 and mine was not black, but grey, as is all of the rest of the 03s. I have no clue what spawned nissan to do this, nothing else on the interior or a charcoal black car is grey except the freaking center console. It doesnt match at all. So my advice if you just want it black to match the doors and not go the crazy sanding down, primer, paint, clearcoat stuff. (which is alot of work.) I would suggest going to napa or advance auto and pick up a rattle can of black trim paint for automotive vinyl. costs about 5 beans. take the center console out, spray it black, put it back in. simple as that, should take you about an hour or two.

no sanding or anything crazy.

oh yeah I almost forgot, pick up some simple green or some other type of non-destructive cleaning agent and scrub it extremely good before you start painting to get the grease and other crap that has built up on it.
