Question JDM Tails + Overlay?

Be totally honest; what do you think of this idea? Here are some (crappy) photochops on my car (click either picture to zoom in); I'm currently on the stock '06/'07 tails, but I'm considering a set of JDM tails with a custom overlay. The bottom layer would be the cutout as shown, and a full wrap clear protective film layer would keep this inner piece from peeling:

That little part that goes to the side of the lamp; right now I have it running straight up from the line off the bumper. Would it look better if I just cut straight across instead of diagonally back down to meet that line?

06+ OEM Style lights that you have already as you said, IMO would look better than that photochop.

cover the chrome with the overlay and leave the red uncovered.

The reason why I'm thinking about this is because on my car, right now, the only thing that is of any color left is the tail lamps...I got chrome bulbs for the front and rear signals (still blink amber) and the front reflectors are spray tinted fairly dark (still reflect orange when hit with light), so the only thing left that isn't silver, chrome or black on the entire car are the tail lamps.

Full overlay the entire tails? How about double-layer? The same cutout underneath, extra coverage on the red, and then single layer wrap the entire thing? Here's a 'chop:

^^ 3rd design looks the best. But you might as well keep your 06/07 lights...
