My inspection is due, and i need to trim away the tint where my third brake light is since in VA it's illegal here. (Didnt realize it at the time) I'd prefer to do it myself, vice go to a tint shop. It looks like i can just pull down on the third brake light assembly and it'll pop off. But before i break it i figured i'd ask. Any suggestions? Do i need to remove the whole trim piece?? Any suggestions for removing the residue??

trial an error... just check out yourself. the interior of these cars are super easy to take apart

 

Hope I got to you in time becouse its bolted on. You have to pull the cover off to get to the bolts.

 

How the hell is an extra brake light illegal?

 

It's not. He had the window tinted and it's covering the 3rd brakelight. He wants to cut the tint around it.
