Default Xenon to hallogen headlights

Hey Guys,
I am new to this forum. I have a 350Z from 2005 (touring fully loaded) that I bought in the USA and that I would like to bring back to Europe (Switzerland).
Apparently, the legislation is very strict with Xenon headlights and I would need to make modifications worth 3000-4000 dollars!!!
I was wondering if you knew if it was possible to replace the xenons by hallogens (as some 2003 models had). This would avoid having to make too many costly changes.
Another question is related to the GPS: does anyone know if it works in Europe if I buy the europeen DVD from Nissan?
Thanks
Y

WTF!? What does Switzerland have against HID's.

Anyway, I'm no 350z owner (so someone can correct me), but I think all you need is the proper halogen bulb (H1, 9006, etc...). It certainly isn't going to require you to upgrade your fuses, as it's not going to sap as much power. But there is the problem of the HID ballast. You might have to do some re-wiring.

The high beams/fogs are halogen. Could you get by just disabling the Xenon during inspection? At least this is true pre-projector units (pre-05?)

I'm sure if that is your best option that someone here will gladly swap their base headlights for your HIDs.

This stems from euro spec vs us DOT spec. basically the cut-off is different. I would think you would have the same issue with halogen housings as well as long as they are US DOT spec. I would research this further. If it comes down to it, I think you could find a set of E-spec assemblies off a salvage car or find a dealer willing to discount them for you and then you could sell off your existing assemblies to the base model guys looking for oem HID to help offset the cost

1. Change the harnesses, swap in the base model or aftermarket headlights.

2. Send me your HID setup.
