im sure you could get some sort of lower back pillow or some back rest thingie that hangs over the seat. Not sure what can go IN the seat though.

I need a piece of rock or something in the back. I have 2 herniated disc and the Z seats are not forgiving.

Those inflatable lumbar supports from Aircraft Spruce go between the seat cover and the backing. You'll see nothing other than a bulge in the back of the seat (depending on how much you inflate them).

Believe me, they work great!

+1

I have the same thing, works like a charm.

Just unzip the back of the seat cover, slide it in and zip it back up.

I recently purchased my '06 350z, and within a few days had back/shoulder pain from the seats. I just installed the inflatable lumbar support that is highly recommended here, but while doing so noticed that it looks like there is a metal bracket with a few holes that could possibly be the home for the lumbar option in the G35. Maybe??? Any chance they're using the same seat frame? Think we could buy the lumbar assembly for a G35 and stick it in our Z's? Anyone know of a good online infiniti parts dealer?

+1 on aircraft thing; I've had one for years.

Recently I had a local shop build up the cushion in the seat to reduce the angle; that has helped as well.

Does your aircraft lumbar support leak? I have to pump it up every time I get in the car. It's kind of annoying, but better than hurting. It really does make a huge difference though!

Thanks,

Adam

You might have a defective one. I haven't had problems with either of mine and I've had them for 3 years and only pumped them up initially.

Same here - I put the inflatable bladder from that same aircraft company in my seat over three years ago and it still works like a champ. Be careful when putting it in - there are some sharp edges inside there.

I've also seen mention of some guys putting G35 seats in Z's. Apparently it's a direct fit (makes sense). Other than the obvious drawback of the "Infinity" stitching on the seat - do they actually feel any better ? Anyone know?

Default Lumbar Support Help

Hopefully it's OK to post/revive this thread. I recently purchased a new 08 base model(was going to wait on the 370 but I couldn't pass on the deal I swung with the stealership). I love the car and the power it produces, however after a few weeks of driving I'm experiencing some back pain. This inflatable lumbar support looks like it could be a good solution short of buying 2 new seats which I would really like to avoid. I searched the threads and couldn't find any additional information about this. Can anyone tell me exactly how this installs in the seat? I looked at my seats and found where the zippers are located in the back. So does this go between the seatcover and foam padding or does it go inside the seat cushion somehow (i've never taken my seat apart). Maybe someone has pictures of what it looks like? Did you have to remove the seat from the car to install this device? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the link to the aircraft website;

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...latelumbar.php

I installed mine 4 years ago and it still works flawlessly. Once you unzip the seatback zipper (don't forget the hooks on the bottom), it's pretty obvious where to put the inflatable bladder - between the metal seatback frame and the foam. I have seat heaters, too, and there's never been any problem. I also put a thin piece of fiberboard between the bladder and the metal frame to give the bladder a uniform surface to inflate against. The hose runs easily out the bottom of the seatback, and is just long enough to have the squeeze bulb rest alongside the seat at the doorsill.

It's been the single easiest and best comfort mod I've ever done.

I got my inflatable bladder and installed it yesterday evening. Very simple operation as mentioned above. Unzipped zippers located on each side of seatback and unhooked seat fabric at the bottom. As indicated there is a metal support bar that runs across the bottom of the seat at about the location where the lumbar support is needed. I placed the bladder against this bar and inflated just enough to hold it in place. I must say that this thing works better than I had anticipated. It's completely hidden and there's no seat bulge as I had feared. I would recommend this product to anyone who has back problems.

Glad we could help with the lumbar (!)

The other thing I did about a year ago was to put 1/2" spacers between the front seat bracket legs and the floor (had to get longer bolts - aircraft spec, since it's a safety item). 1/2" doesn't sound like much, but it elevated the front of the seat enough to definitely improve the thigh support for this long-legged guy (6'-3"). This, combined with the lumbar bladder transformed the stock drivers seat into a comfortable one for me.

Just thought I'd pass it along.
