Lambo style doors on my car
nice, you by any chance get a picture of the mustang with the door closed? or see how the fit of it was when closed? was the door easy to open and close?
also a thought I had, when its up, how do you pull it down to shut it? particularly if they were to shave the handle off? youd get alot of finger prints on it from opening it and closing it, or so I would imagine.

Anyways, It's not what I promised, but I did get a couple of pics of a new Mustang he just did
On the other hand, thackattk : your car will sure look sick!!
with that kind of doors, be sure to post pics as soon as you get it done... or maybe you could ask the guys at the shopp to take pictures of the car that took your hinges??
the guy that's getting the kit is a member of this board. Hopefully he will post pics.
The Mustang was cramped but worked fine. The guy said he was told it couldn't be done on a Mustang, so he proved them wrong. I like his attitude.
As far as the shaved door handles on the stang, he had it hooked up so his remote would open the doors. One button for the driver, one button for the passenger. It was really cool.
The kid with the stang was 16. As I was talking to him, he said his parents offered to buy him a 350Z if he wouldn't mod it, but he said he'd rather have the stang and Mod the crap out of it. Must be nice to have those kind of options at 16.

Ares, I didn't get a pic of the stang with the door closed, but I did get in the car and open and close the door.
The door looked like stock when closed. Couldn't tell a difference.
As far as operation, it was much easier than I thought it would be. Just open door, push out till it stops (about 8") then lift at bottom. Took very little effort considering how heavy those Mustang doors are.
Another thing, I am 6'2" and weigh about 215. I could have gotten in and out of the car without lifting the door up. Which is nice if you're in a hurry and/or don't feel like attracting all kinds of attention.

I know a place here in Northridge that has been doing those setups for a long time now.
They had a black saleen showcar at the LA Auto show a few years back.
I'm friends with the owner if anyone is local and is interested I can put up their phone/address.

Hey Pat1USMC,
You must be stationed at Pensacola NAS. My Dad was there back in the 70's. I lived in Pensacola for 5 years. I love it there. Too bad there isn't more jobs or I would be there instead of Tampa Bay.
As far as the body shop location, it's in Largo, Fl., which is about 8-9 hrs from Pensacola.
But the good thing about this kit is, now that they have a prototype hinge, they can ship the hinge to you ready to bolt on and you should be able to take it to the body shop of your choice.
I'll definitely keep you guys updated

My dad was an intructor. He taught how to work on electrical systems on AWACs. He retired from the Navy in '76 w/ 22.5 years.
Question, do they still use the USS Lexington for training pilots to take off and land on carriers?

Hey guys,
My guy at carxs.com says that he should be able to schedule me in the next couple of weeks.
Don't worry, when I get it done I will post tons of pics
Waiting sucks!
As far as cost,
He's saying the kit will probably sell for around 1900.00.
Then you can get a body shop to install it for around 300.00

doesnt matter, he gets the deal cause he's the one who sacrificed his car. the metal Im seein there couldnt cost more than 3-400$ and I think thats being VERY generous.
Im sure theres more to it than just metal and a hydrolic piston... or atleast Id hope so.

I found this on Ebay. Door conversion kit for 350Z. Only takes one week to do it yourself and all you need are a couple of tools and this handy CD. Then you will "Get all the respect and jealous!!!". Hopefully he will have a CD showing how to build a supercharger out of household items coming out soon!
Anyway, at least his picture does a good job of showing how the door opens.

Or how about "Make your car headlight more jealous!" OR
"They have all video you want to find!!"
This auction is crackin me up. This could be the "All your base" of ebay!
