How hard is it to color-match Daytona Blue for kits?
Just wondering if this color is really tough to color match when putting on bodykits, spoilers, etc? I just came back from checking out the paint job recently done on my kit and it really doesnt match as perfect as i thought it should have. The owner gave me some explaination how its gonna be off like the gas door compared to the body. BTW, i had the Nismo V2 kit done with the RS concept color schmeme.

yeah i had to get rear Q panel repainted, it didnt match entirely but it doesnt look too bad, my friends havent noticed it til i get them REAL close to it and show the lines on hatch and rear bumper, but i plan on getting kit later so ill have it blended a lot better then, its blended with doors and side skirt perfectly though, just deep around gas lid

It is pretty hard but 100% acheivable.. I had taken it to Dodge Country Body shop in Killeen, TX and let me tell you they paint match like nobody's ****ing business!! The paint match was so perfect I was happy to pay them anything.. The only downfall was there turn around time was long as hell..
BTW when I bought my car at the dealership I had them install the nismo v1 brand new.. The paint match was severely off.. They repainted what I had left when I returned (Sideskirts werent repainted yet to fix the bad color match) for free (pretty nice of them).. They (Nissan Dealer) still couldnt paint match perfect as the dodge body shop but they are alot closer than round 1.

you have to go to a shop that uses PPG brand paint or you can purchase the PPG paint yourself and provide it for your body shop to use. It is the ONLY paint type that will ever come spot on matching your OEM paint color.

all brands of paint can be matched. That said, PPG produces paint under a number of different names. Don't for a second think you can tell your shop to punch in a paint code and the mixer will automatically spit out a perfect blend. Painters need to tint and spray test panels to ensure a proper match. Even the number of coats of clear will come into play as does the material it is being sprayed on.
To the OP, DB is very difficult to match but a quality shop should be able to do it. you get what you pay for so do be turned off by a high quote -> look for quality

My problem with my paint (silverstone) was when I first received the car back. The paint looked great. But over time the paint on the front clip had gotten darker and darker. Looks bad to me now. I wish I could load the pics for before and after to show you. But can't right now. What would cause this? Going to a different shop next month to have the clip redone.
Also, maybe this time the paint won't be so easy to chip, with the extra coat.

I got a body kit paint. wing. and serve other thing painted. all at different time and different painter. no problem. and yes I did use ppg. if they mix it right it shouldnt be a problem. I had a friend thats not a professional painter do my wing and match came out perfect. I would use ppg for sure.

My first body mod was a front lip... In DB and it was WAYYY off....
I Ended up deciding to just get a full kit... The body shop used the stock bumper to match the color. It is a perfect match and the painter is amazing!! He has done my entire kit, eyelids etc.
The only thing that bugs me is the roof and a couple other parts from the stock paint have less of a flop then the plastic pieces which look way more purple/blue then the metal pieces... Here is my match on the kit
