Red door panel light?

Red door panel light?

I was wondering if the door panel red light is supposed to go on when the door is open or are they just like a regular reflector? Mine never goes on whether the door is open or closed. Thanks much

it's a reflector.. or you can mod it and put led's in there like another member did.
