painted dash center section
anyone got any tips or a DIY tutorial on getting this done? i want to smooth out my center console pannels and paint them either silver or color match them to the exterior.
anyone got any tips or input? should i just start sanding the texture off the material?
any input/help is appreciated

pull the whole thing out and start sanding, make sure you get all the texture off and don't use anything coarser than 320 grit, your gauges in the center are heat melted on the back, you can just break them lose and re epoxy them when you are done. the main thing is take your time and do it right the first time.

high build primer is always a must
would it be easier/any better to go over it with bondo to fill in the texture? i have been considering that as opposed to taking the texture down...

nah, prime it, youll be fine. which center part are you talking about. i did both of mine. the one that holds the gauges, and the actual console. either way, all youll need to do is 3 coats of primer, sand it with 400 grit until all the peel is gone, then seal, base, clear
the part that holds the gauges i left a little texture on purpose, but alot of it is gone after just a yellow scuff, and 1 coat of sealer, 2 of base and 2 of clear. so if you prime it it will be more than enough. the center console i sanded once, sprayed it, and it looked really bad, so i sanded it all back down, and just sealed it, based it and cleared it again and theres a little texture but not much, so priming it would be your best bet. theres no need for any bodyfiller at all.
