I know I'm new here and all but don't get me wrong...the NISMO wing looks awesome...from certain views...but from behind, the way its attached to the body...just looks so darn bulky. I wish it would attach to the body in a cleaner way...just my opinion.

Yeah...i saw some pics of Z's with that spoiler and thought it looked AWESOME...then i saw it from the back and was a little turned off...why they couldn't just make 2 posts coming down into the trunk or something...that would have looked sweet!

WIND TUNNEL TESTED!

thast cool w/ me--even though I don't really plan on speeds that its made for---to know that is a plus--its not just for looks the probably designed that afterwards

kinda like Mugen wings on INtegra's,.look a little funky from some views but does the job its intended for.
I don't think engineers @ NISMO sat down and designed the wing for just a "Body enhancement mod" or steet cosmetic add-on---it just so happens its there for a reason!!
I dig how it looks from the rear,..even better @ an angle from front to back!!!

thats my take on it.
now some of the other company's wings are just for "Add-on's" not exactly for track use or track tested--there might be a few that are--but NIsmo ownz!

thats really the only reason that the nismo kit is still on my list.
some of the others look sooo much better, but apparently the nismo is tested.

i have some friends who are aerospace engineers and have access to windtunnels.. perhaps we could get some testing on various wings?

well,..I'll yell you one thing,..i wanna test that girl in your avatar's "Wind Tunnel"

I think theres like only one or 2 other wings out there that are wind tunnel tested--->and the other is the Stock wing!!! that and front Stock underbody spoiler= Zero lift!!! They made it right out the box!
The rest is just for looks,...and some are out to just Look Plain UGLY AS HELL!!!!!(ahem)--Veilside wings--version 1 is borderline Ugly but the rest are nasty!

Yeah, the direct back view of the Nismo turned me off as well. It's like the spoiler stopped short from the back.

I photoshopped a Nismo wing last night...lowered the spoiler..and slightly extended it back just a little and it looked perfect.

if only someone actually made a smaller sleaker..lowered back slightly reverse extended version of the Nismo.

I hate to burst you Bubble, but the Nismo wing WAS designed by SONY For Grand Trourismo 3. When NISMO started to Design a body kit for the Z33 the one the Team liked the best was the one from the Video Game, they actually had to buy the rights From Sony to start making them. They Did do some tweaking to the design, but it is almost the same. It has been Wind tunnel and track tested. It did an excellent job in both test. Strange but True

windtesting a wing without the car is pointless... and thats if your friends actually have access to a windtunnel that can test cars! the nismo wing looks fine... the pictures online dont do it justice.. i've seen it in person numerous times.. and if i ever can get my car back, thats what's going on it..

there's a mini windtunnel at UCLA that i have access to. but i think putting my AutoArt model in there would be pointless.. :P

what you might be interested in is those OTHER wings that are NOT wind tunnel tested.. but alas, the deck lids on the Z dont do jack... the wing must be high enough to be in the air flow off the roof, which means.. 7-9 inches off the rear trunk lid.. (aka. your Cwest or INGS+1 touring wings..) now THOSE work...

if everyone would be just like you and want function follows form, everyone would be buying touring wings that high for the effect at high speeds rather than "oh. that one looks better"

Word!

I believe this windtunnel claim pulled by Nismo is a buncha hyped up fluff, or marketing garble for you business majors.

I'm sure if they placed wings similar to the Nismo..their margin of difference won't be that big.

Did they stick it in a windtunnel? Maybe..

Is is something they fine tuned again and again before releasing on the market?? hell no

Does the spoiler look good? Sure

I'm sure this spoiler, like many other "aero" pieces, was designed with aesthetics in mind FIRST. Then the thing just happened to yield somewhat decent "Wind tunnel" tests.

What marketing consultant wouldn't tell his/her boss to note that to the consumer?!?

Point is: The spoiler is functional. It is probably going to be purchased based on its look over its "superior" functionality.

just my penny.

i never stated i want function to follow form. In fact I am the complete opposite. Thus the comment about wind tunnel testing. I want to enhance my cars performance, but without yielding an eyesore (nismo wing is not that of course)

The box the Nismo wing sits on is what keeps me from buying it, too. Don't like it. The rest looks good.
