Default Got In Small Accident with Guard Rail

There was ice. Did a spin. Hit guardrail. I have $1000 deductible and will need a new hood, bumper and driver side headlight.

I can live with the slightly dented hood and scratched bumper for now but my driver side headlight housing is pretty much destroyed but covered thanks to clear packing tape. It does however fully function. Bulb/blinker/brights work fine.

I don't feel like paying 750 for a new headlight just because it is xenon. I can get a pair of HID headlights for 350. Is there really that much of a difference.

Does anyone have any reccomendations?

Is your Z equipped with the Bi-Xenon headlights of the '06 and up? If not, You may be able to get a pair of the cheapo non-hid headlights and put your HID parts on them.

I'm looking at the service manual, and it doesn't look like there's too much difference between the conventional and xenon housings aside from the obvious addition of the ballast, etc.

I'd suggest looking into trying to retrofit a non-HID housing to work with your parts, since you've already got all of them.

Of course, you might not want to do that, but either way...Hope you get it all worked out!
