Like I mentioned now several times, the Seibon TS hood is not a copy of a real TS hood since TS never, ever made that hood in the first place.

Im not trying to bust your nutz, just if your going to take a strong stance against replicas be prepared to be challenged.
Irony is, i bought a titek duct from the tech. I bought it because it was cheaper then the varis and he was selling it at a reduced price. I cant tell the difference but i still tell people its titek.
I would buy a replica visual part.......if it has more form then function then why not. But for mechanical parts, replicas/ebay crap will not suffice.
One thing to also remember is how many name brand companies buy chinese junk and relabel it as theirs. VRT did it and several suspension and big brake manufactures do it as well ( doesnt jbt megan and greddy share the same caliper) and how many different struts are there available for the 350z, so many brands!

To call me a thief is not right. I've never compared myself to a "robin hood" or anything of the sorts. To be honest, I dont care. I don't care if it upsets you, I don't care if it upset Bulletproof or Top Secret that I'm making the TS diffuser. I'm offering a better constructed piece at a much cheaper price. I took their original design and have improved on it. We have made it thicker, 2x2 weave, a single sheet of carbon fiber, they are vacuum bagged not hand laid, and will be including install instructions...all while being $400 cheaper.

You've admitted to stealing another company's idea.
If you can sleep at night, then fine. It is what it is. You know it and I know it. I'm sorry if it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, but I guess that's just your conscience talking to you.

It's on your website.....meaning you've sold, or intended to sell that hood. That hood looks to be an exact copy of the Veilside. So judging by your reasoning, then that makes you a.........
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for you selling those products.......just not tripping over the:

Well not to jump on the bandwagon and bash any vendors for selling replica parts. Ultimately while we all try to uphold our own beliefs, at the end of the day , you must cater to your customers. Be it that he wants a replica seibon hood, or a authentic TS hood is not up to you. I can see why you would not promote it, but selling it really is not your fault.
On to the next topic of why replicas bother me. Yes I have had replica parts, I am not afraid to admit it. In the past I have made the excuse to myself that it just isnt worth it, or the authentic takes to long to get here etc. My biggest problem with the replica vs authentic thing is there are many who will pass off their parts as authentic pieces or just mistakenly leave it out.
Hell I have read dozens of articles, threads, and website posts about cars (yes even cars of highly praised members here" who just happen to leave out that their body kit is not authentic, yet there is so much hype about it. I have read an article where the main focus was about how nice the exterior was, but upon closer inspection all of it was replicas. I mean whatever makes you happy right? However there are those same people who will preach about how replicas are destroying the market, or they will claim that in a heartbeat they would come clean about their parts and they in no way wanted to decieve anyone.
If you ask me that is the biggest crime I think. I hate when people strut around with fake Rolex watches trying to pass it off as the real thing, and I am sure 99% of the people here agree, so why is it ok for people to drive around with replicas claiming it is the real thing?
Again I am admitting I have had replica parts on my car in the past, but that really is a thing of the past.

I hate when people buy replicas and then tell others it's the real thing. Be a man and admit what you bought. With that said.....
I generally don't agree with people copying other's ideas, but I say that with a grain of salt. For instance, The Rota Torques are a copy of the Work Emotions KAI. Both are cast wheels (Work may have a better testing facility, but who really knows if that means better quality?). They are both the same exact design. However, Work does not offer the KAI in gloss black. As a matter of fact, I believe they only offer them in 3 colors. If the consumer really wanted the KAI in gloss black, they would have to get them powdercoated on their own time. Not to mention, they probably had to wait a couple of months to get the rims. This makes the process much more difficult. So the potential buyer has to make a choice between moral ethics (some might say business ethics) and practicality.

the only way I could justify putting a replica on my car would be when the original is no longer available. for example the nismo v2 spoiler. I was thankfully able to get an authentic but i have heard they are no longer in production and if there were no authentics available i'd understand buying a replica. I don't believe is stealing someone else's ideas to make money, but if that original designer has no desire to make money of their idea anymore, i'm willing to pay someone who does.

i think some people would buy a replica because that's all they can afford or all they see it being valued as. They might get nothing otherwise because they just don't see the value in it. So if they weren't going to buy an authentic kit anyway, (because they don't see the value in it as others) does that hurt the authentic makers? no, it doesn't. Will it ever stop, no, i mean i think robbing a bank is bad but that still happens. So what is going to stop someone from making copies? Being illegal? no, of course not. And for anyone who cares, i own an authentic cwest long nose kit, because i wanted it and was willing to pay it.
