Would it be possible for the immobilizer chip to work with the Z's as well? Or just the keyfob functionality?
also, does Nissan sell the spare key inserts as pictured above seperately? (edit, nvm. You can get the key insert as a blank)

anyway, im think the best thing to do is take apart the fob (check the manual) and spray the shell with krylon fusion. ima do mine this weekend. i will post pics then.

I did it. It was pain in the @$$. Worse thing about this DIY is that the quality of the RX8 keyfob just terrible. I ordered it from ebay, and seems like its a cheap knock off from China... folding key is very loose... So, the key jiggles and feels very sloppy. So, I went out and got another all-in-one jack knife keyfob. This is for Korean vehicles, but the order of the buttons are exactly the same as the 350z keyfob and the height is very similar. So, I only had to shave off like 1/16th of an inch of the chip board(?) instead of chopping the half of the board. It also has the metal trims and key is held in very firmly. I still had to add buttons and do some wiring jobs just like the RX8 DIY though...

That looks pretty good. I like it better than the mazda one. I bought an Audi Fob on Ebay for 20 bucks and I'm working on that.
