We all have seen vehicles with a middle brakelight that blinks.

Has it ever been determined if this actually reduces collisions?

I believe that Mercedes plans to introduce 5,000 flashing brake light test units into the United Sates. We will have to wait for the results, and see if the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration changes its current lighting safety standards.
