Are windshields replaced by safelite better than the oem piece?

I've got a small 1/4" round crack in my OEM one that's been there for a while now. I've been contemplating calling them and have them repair it...

I doubt it. DOT glass is DOT glass.

My stock glass is great. It's in VERY good condition. It cleans well, not sun dried out, cleans very easy inside and out. No rock chips or anything. I don't see how the stock glass is bad. It's better than Toyota that's for sure.

On my integra and my lil bros civic, when replacing the windshield, they had to CUT the black trom around it. You can actaully see it from the exterior of the car. Does the Z have to go through this?

My wife had a safelite windshield put in her Camry after a chip and some neglectful reporting... I can see bad optics in the glass, almost like looking in a funhouse mirror when viewed at the right angle but not to that extreme. I will spend a few more bucks next time I need new glass.

Well the OEM glass is pretty good i think. If you think the angle is bad, get an s2k and try to prevent cracks in that...lmao.

But anyways...the best glass I ever had over OEM would be the glass made by PPG. That was the best I ever had. Absolute clarity and much much stronger than OEM. Though that was for my S2k, they should have them for the Z but you just need to find a dealer....

BTW my uncle has his own bodyshop and I got the glass replaced for only 99.00 installed...haha. Normally they charge about 200-250...

Well after having the glass replaced it looks a little thicker than the stock piece. The only thing that i miss is how good the stock piece sheds water, but thats something that can be fixed with rain-x

Just something that went through my mind, but why are you guys talking about the cost of replacing glass? The last time I had to replace my windshield, my insurance covered it free of charge. But of course, I just got the same OEM glass.
